Summer Reading Program

Visit the library to sign up for the Summer Reading Program and receive an Adventure Begins at Your Library reading log. Keep track of the books you read (or have read to you) and bring your completed log back to the library to receive a stamp. Collect stamps to earn prizes!

The Summer Reading program has been generously funded by the Friends of the Edgartown Free Public Library as well as our sponsors at Edgartown Meat & Fish, Candy Bazaar, Edgartown Pizza, and Great Harbor Market.

Vineyard Scavenger Hunt

All month long in the Children's Room

Grab your clue sheet from the Children’s room desk and venture out to find all the special local items around the Vineyard. Turn in your completed clue sheet for a prize!

Stuffed Animal Sleepover

Friday, July 19
Drop-off: 10:30am - 4pm

Drop your stuffie off at the library for a sleepover, and then pick them up the next day and hear all about their overnight adventures! All ages welcome.

Adventures in Handicraft: Cookie Decorating with Elyce

Monday, July 22
3pm - 4pm

Join Elyce for this sweet program! She’ll teach you some fun techniques, and best of all, you get to eat your handiwork. All supplies provided. All ages welcome.

Library Olympics

Celebrate the first day of the Summer 2024 Olympics. Join our Fit Camp pro Bonnie Kingsbury for our own version of Library Olympics! All ages welcome.

Active Moves with Jenna

Saturday, July 27

This class, taught by early childhood expert Jenna Robichau, focuses on more angular movements. With different timing, rhythms, and weights of movement, children will learn to self-regulate their bodies and find balance. Geared toward ages 3-5, but all are welcome.

Cardboard Car Drive-in Movie Adventure

Come decorate a cardboard car and park it in front of our big screen where we'll be showing Clifford the Big Red Dog and serving popcorn!

We’ll have a limited number of cardboard boxes available to decorate; if you have your own, please bring it. All decorating supplies will be provided. All ages welcome.

Musical Instrument Petting Zoo

Do you have little ones who are curious about musical instruments? Bring them to the Edgartown Library's Program Room to try out different instruments every week.

Transformation Tuesdays

Sort through our collection of recyclables and repurpose them into useful items using our craft supplies. For all ages.

Wiggle with the Words

Join Elyce in the Program Room for a movement-based storytime using fun props and interactive stories. This program is geared toward ages 1-5, but all are welcome. No registration required.

Animal Adventures

Fridays
10:30am - 4pm

Visit the library every Friday throughout the summer to pick up a stuffed animal to read to and keep. While supplies last.

Story Walk at Sheriff’s Meadow Sanctuary

The Edgartown Library and Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation have partnered to bring you a story walk every month.

This self-guided activity takes place at the Sheriff's Meadow Sanctuary and is for children of all ages and their caregivers.

Board Game & Activity Stations - Come check out the board game and activity stations in the Children's Room. We've got classic games like chess and Candy Land, as well as fun tabletop games like Llamanoes. Activities include puzzles, coloring pages, and more.

After School Crafting - The Children's Room is open every day after school for open crafting time! There will be all sorts of crafting supplies available for kids to make any artful creations that come to mind.
